Congestive heart failure - Don't Wait for the Attack

One of the things that doctors are sure about is that the symptoms of congestive heart failure are quite varied. Additionally, the causes of congestive heart failure are also as varied as the symptoms. The real question then is, how can it be detected? And if it can be detected, is there a treatment of congestive heart failure?
In order to answer this question let's start from the beginning. That is, what is congestive heart failure and the different congestive heart failure symptoms that exist.

What Is Congestive Heart Failure?

Congestive Heart Failure (CHF), also called congestive cardiac failure (CCF) occurs when there is a defect on the structural design of the heart. When this happens, the heart is unable to work correctly. Or, in more medical terms, it means that the heart won't be able to pump enough blood to all the body.

Which Are The Most Common Causes Of Congestive Heart Failure?

There are many things that can cause CHF. For example, there is genetic inheritance; if your family has a history of CHF it is highly probable that you will suffer from it. Alcohol is another cause of this ailment. This is very interesting since it shows us that an excess of alcohol will damage more than our liver and our brain.

Other causes for CHF are heartworms (a parasite that is spread through the bite of mosquitoes; however, humans are rarely infected by it), hypertension (that is, when the blood pressure of our body is elevated chronically), anemia (which is a deficiency of blood cells caused by inadequate nutrition), among many others.

Which Are The Most Common Symptoms Of Congestive Heart Failure?

If you suffer from left heart failure, then the symptoms can be shortage of breath, difficulty in breathing while lying down, fatigue, nocturnal cough, memory impairment (usually related to confusion), excessive sweating or cool extremities when resting.

In case you are suffering from a right heart failure, the symptoms are a bit distinct from the ones suffered in the left heart failure. The symptoms are dullness, an abnormal heart rhythm (only detected through auscultation) and pulmonary edema (the accumulation of fluids in the lungs).
