Cholesterol and triglyceride are connected in the sense that high triglycerides levels often accompany high total cholesterol and high LDL or Low-Density Lipoprotein (“bad”) cholesterol levels, and a reduced HDL or High-Density Lipoprotein (“good”) cholesterol level. When you aim to lower your total cholesterol and LDL levels, you are also helping to reduce triglycerides.
The Various Causes of High Triglycerides
There are several causes of high triglycerides, the chief of them being:

High fat Foods and Weight Gain: As your weight increases, triglyceride levels also increase. One of the causes of high triglycerides is excess calories, especially that derived from sugar/alcohol. Alcohol not only increases your liver’s production cleared from the body, but also plays a part in reducing the amount of fat that is being cleared from your blood. Further, all high fat foods- like red meat, dairy products, organ meat, high sugar diet- increase triglyceride levels in the body. Age
As you grow older, triglyceride levels also increase steadily.
Medications

Heredity
