Cardiomyopathy refers to several heart problems where the heart will fail to work in the way it should work. This is caused by a kind of muscular damage. In this condition, the heart muscle can either be weakened or its structure will be changed.

The muscular damage can happen in many ways. It may be due to heart attacks, long- term blood pressure, viral infections, alcoholism or severe hypertension. It is usually related with poor pumping of the heart or other abnormal heart function. But some sources like American Heart Association present the view that it could also be for no reason.
