Lewis-Gale Medical Center tops the list in heart care In an official statement Lewis-Gale Medical Center announced that they have been given the number one position in Roanoke area. Similarly they also happen to occupy the 10th position in the state level. This is for the commercial organizations offering medical services. These results have been derived by making use of their information in many ways. This has come as very good news to all the stake holders of the hospitals including doctors, nurses, administrators, business and community leaders. The simple reason is the reputation that the organization has been enjoying in the minds of the public for quiet a long time. DR. Richard Prokopchak a prominent cardiologist from the institute was of the opinion that this was because of the fact that everything was going on well in the hospital. This calculation is done on the basis of comparing many factors and following certain norms which are applicable. However this system of awarding points has also come under heavy criticism and some is no way error free. One of the main reasons is the data itself which becomes more and more complex as period of comparison and other relevant factors increase. Lewis-Gale Medical Center bagged the coveted title "best hospital for orthopedic care" in the entire state during the year 2005.
