Chocolate Helps Heart Health

Scientists have been increasing the evidence that proves chocolate has specific health benefits for the heart. Heart health can be improved by chocolate as proved by a recently study of coco by the Harvard University School of Public Health. The antioxidant chemicals called falconoid in the chocolate have been shown to prevent cell damage and inflammation which helps increase the blood flow or the heart while decreasing the platelet stickiness and clotting.

Johns Hopkins Hospital recently conducted another study in which they found that eating chocolate once a day can decrease the risk of heart attack related death by preventing the platelets from leading to clotting. Cocoa contains a chemical similar to aspirin that has the same effects on reducing clotting.

In addition, researchers at Tufts University found that those with high blood pressure see a significant drop after eating 3.5 ounces of dark chocolate each day for two weeks. The amount of the individuals bad cholesterol during the study dropped as well. In addition to the heart, chocolate has been found to help the muscles, skin and brain as well.

However, this doesn't mean that individuals should start eating large amounts of chocolate. In order to get the benefits of chocolate you only need to eat a small piece of dark chocolate each day.
